To help you decide what kind of binding method is appropriate for your document, you can read the following breif explainations of each of the binding methods that we provide.
Wire Binding is a popular method of binding documents. The document is bound by inserting a metal wire binder through the punched holes. The bound document has clear acetate on the front and thicker card on the back. Wire binding has the flexibility of opening the document flat and 360 degrees.
Comb binds are made from a flexible plastic and can come in a variety of colours and sizes. Like wire binding, Holes are punched though the left side of the document and then the comb bind spine is fed through the holes with a comb binding machine. The spine does not need force to fasten it, but using the comb biding machine it can be moved into the correct position. Comb binding gives the added benefit of allowing pages to be added or taken out of it relatively easily. A comb bound document will also open out flat on a table but will not open 360 degrees like a wire bind.
We offer Hard cover binding, also known as Book Binding, in A4 size. The pages and hard cover are clamped together in a binding machine. This type of binding is particularly good for documents that have more permanence to them, great for student theses or photo albums. Hard wearing and protective, the cover can also be pressed with gold lettering.
The thermal binding method involves securing the pages of your document with a wrap around cover, binding it with clear plastic on the front and card at the back. The wrap has a glue strip in the middle. We can thermal bind documents that are between 1.5mm to 50mm in thickness.
Binding can be done quite quickly and we can bind in different thicknesses and sizes from A6 to A3. Specialised binding also available for wrap round covers on card.
